Person Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy.
Person Centred Therapy
Person centred therapy is a very gentle form of therapy that puts you at the heart of our work together. The central idea is that given the right conditions, each person has the capacity for self-actualisation or the ability to become the best version of themselves. During childhood and throughout the years we have lived we absorb false information and create beliefs about ourselves that aren't true. In the process of this form of therapy you begin to notice these beliefs and false views of yourself and gradually begin to shed them.
Person centred therapy was created by an individual called Carl Rogers. The foundation of this form of therapy is Rogers began to notice whilst conducted therapy that people responded the most and seemed to improve in their mental health when they felt deeply heard. He believed strongly in promoting autonomy and that each individual has the capacity for self healing, for finding their own answers to their problmes. He went on to delineate three core conditions that a therapist should offer clients: empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.
